Mark Wertheimer graduated as a dentist (BDS) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1986, and then with an MSc(Dent) in 1993 and as an orthodontist - MDent(Orth) – 1995, both Wits. He obtained the Fellowship of the College of Dentistry in 1996 – FCD(SA)Orth.
Further qualifications include FFDT RCS(Edin), MFDS RCPS(Glasg) and FICD.
He was involved in post-graduate teaching at the University of Wits from 1996-2013.
He has served on numerous committees, including being Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South African Dental Association, and is a Past-President and Honorary Life member of the South African Society of Orthodontists. He is also an Honorary Life member of the Lebanese orthodontic Society.
He is an International Ambassador of the AAO and the WFO Councillor for South Africa.
He has published in the peer reviewed literature and given numerous lectures both nationally and internationally.
